A slow start this morning, missed the early chat with @voirol - Tom & @AndrewBlanda who had meeting today and couldn't make it. After 9am people started rolling in and by 10am we were in full swing.
Things that came up that I can remember hearing or saying:
Matthew - @aDB discussed barcamp http://www.barcampsydney.org/ which sounds amazing. Organise discussion groups on the fly and kid/family friendly I love it. Apparently the one coming up in Canbera will be a good one http://barcamp.org/BarCampCanberra We also got to meet the lovely Melinda, Matthew wife. Havng some very cool talents that you have to come to a #wscm to learn about.
Tony H - @hollingsworth shared a great tip for ravioli he was given recently. Just fry some Sage(herb) with a good qaulity butter and then add the ravioli. Making me hungry just typing this. Tony also mentioned a new tablet PC called a JooJoo http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/08/joojoo-tablet-hands-on-video/ which seems to be the crunchpad that techcrunch was unable to release because their business partner got greedy. Tony also taked about the book Outliers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outliers_(book) an intertesting look into how being born at the right time of year affects sporting pursiots and that to become amazing in an area of endeavor don't need to be a genius or super talented you really need to do the endeavour for 10,000 hours to become amazing at it.
Michelle - @_Shelbyville is running a Bookbinding class on Sunday 13 December from 1-4pm for $55 including materials, leather, paper, bookbinding thread etc. Location is Erskinville Public School. That is fantastic value in my opinion. email Michelle: michelle at shelbyville dot com dot au to register and get full list of details and what to bring.
Another lovely group arrived today at different times of the morning some arriving at 8am others 10am. All contributed wonderfully to several conversations going on at any one time.
Things that came up that I can remember hearing or saying:
Katherine mentioned that www.hostgator.com have provided very reliable and economical hosting based in the US.
Viveca describes his passion as "Design principles of mixed place for geographically distributed collaborated creativity"
Tom discussed how the www.foursquare.com iphone app is taking off in hos peer group so a Ken, Tony H & I promptly signed up to start getting connected there too. You use it to let your friends now where you are so if you happen to be nearby you can catch up.
Tony H also mentioned a book written by a friend form a females perspective of a male dominated Legal world in Australia. The book is "Legally Blind" by Elizabeth Gascoigne. Website is www.legallyblindthenovel.com
Well our 2nd coffee morning was a great success once again this week.
We had quality conversations and truly amazing new connections happening in front of my eyes again. Some new faces too which is so good to see the word is getting out there.
Things that came up that I can remember hearing or saying:
Wordpress (of course I remember those bits)
Thesis theme for wordpress was discussed as a good well organised theme. Costs around $US87 with full access to user forumns.
Hive plugin that allows one hosting account to have multiple wordpress websites running from one install. Ask @AndrewBlanda for more info as he currently uses it.
Callan Park Festival
A subject very dear to @CallanPark - Katherine's heart.
